The Changing Face of Bristol Barbering

Bristol Barbering

Long gone are the days of walking into a Bristol barbers and having two options to choose from, short back and sides or just 'short'.
The modern barbershop is a diverse mix of traditional techniques like the luxurious 'Hot Towel Shave' or the newer trends such as fades and blow drying techniques.

The barbershop started off as much more than a place to get your hair shorter, it was a social hub of the male community.  They served as a ‘hang-out’ place for men, who came in not only for a shave or haircut, but also to catch up on current news and have a chat with friends.

Many visitors would return weekly or even daily. This was the golden age of barbershops.

This dropped off over the years due to the introduction of the Gilette saftey razor, financial decline and the increase of unisex salons.
In recent years we have gone full circle,  clients are now often friends with their barber, visits are more regular, standards are much higher and tradition is back.

With a mix of modern and traditional styling being in fashion, telling your barber what you'd like done might seem like a mine field these days which is why over the next few weeks I will be going through basic options and buzz words to help you get your desired look.
