Changing Face of Bristol Barbering Continued
Stepping up the game
The barbering scene has grown so much in recent years and Bristol is no different. With it we've experienced a wider range of options available when getting a haircut. In this post i'll cover the basics of neckline options. When asked what type of neckline a
client wants, the most common answer is 'I dont mind as I don't have to look at it' however the outlines of your hair cut say as much about it as the style you've chosen and these small differences make all the difference.
There are three main options: squared off, rounded off and tapered.
Squared off has for the most part been the go to in the past as it's clean, sharp and creates a firm outline. It is simply when straight lines are use to make the neckline square and is great for a business look and cuts that aren't too short on the back.
sides. The down side of a squared off neckline is the fact that it grows out fairly quickly and if you're not the type of person to get a trim ever two weeks then it will outgrow your haircut very quickly.
Rounded off is a slight deviation of the squared off approach where the barber will cut the bottom of the neckline into a curve. The result is a softer finish which can often be suited for those with slimmer necks. Much like the first option, the rounded off neckline will grow out within the first two weeks and therefore would require more frequent visits or top-ups to maintain the look.
The tapered neckline is when the hair gets gradually shorter and fades out to nothing at the bottom. The taper can be as high or low as you like and will change the look you are going for. A low short taper will give you a softer and more natural finish where as a higher taper will give you a more distinctive look. The biggest upside of chosing this option is that the hair will grow out a lot slower than both other options and is more likely to continue to look smart until your next barber visit.
